Kim Beom-su is the founder of Kakao, South Korea's biggest messaging app, which is installed in 90% of the country's smartphones. 

 

2022년 3월 회장직에서 물러나 이사회를 떠났습니다.

He stepped down as chairman and left the board in March 2022. 

 

카카오의 수천만 명의 사용자들도 게임, 쇼핑, 채팅을 위해 앱을 사용합니다.

Kakao's tens of millions of users also use the app for gaming, shopping and chatting.

 

2014년 카카오는 국내 2위 검색엔진 다음(Daum)을 33억 달러 상당의 주식 거래로 인수해 뒷문 상장을 했습니다.

 In 2014 Kakao acquired the country's No. 2 search engine Daum in an all stock transaction worth $3.3 billion which resulted in a back door listing. 

 

같은 해 한국 정부는 카카오를 대기업으로 분류했습니다; 카카오는 빅리그에 진출한 최초의 기술 스타트업입니다.

That same year the South Korean government classified Kakao as a large company; it is the first tech startup that made it into the big leagues. 

 

2021년에 Kim은 그의 재산의 대부분을 자선 활동에 기부하겠다고 약속하는 Giving Pledge에 서명했습니다.

In 2021 Kim signed the Giving Pledge, committing to donate the majority of his wealth to charitable causes.

Kim grew up in poverty and paid his way through college by offering private tutoring, sometimes skipping meals to save money.
